Prem’s Graama Bhojanam Review

Getting back to roots

When was the last time you ate something from your village? When was the last time you even thought of having a grameen dish (if I may)? Well, it seems the idea isn’t far away, nor is the source to fulfill the idea. Located next to the famous GRT jewel shop in Adyar, Prem’s Graama Bhojanam is one place you might probably not stop you to look at, yet you must. A compelling theme of age old recipes that seem to be spilling good health and great taste at the same time!

What’s on the Menu? – The Food

The menu at PGB is extremely unique comprising mainly of authentic and traditional South Indian food items. Every menu item mentioned has its own story as far as its origin is concerned, speaking in a traditional sense of course. At PGB, there’s one thing common among them all – they are all tasty and with down to earth prices as well!

If you think that lunch means some heavy food then you can go ahead with the meals menu. And here’s the best part: you can have rice varieties, utthapams, dosas, and rotis at nearly half the calorie count as compared to the usual version of the same food items!

The most interesting ones would be the rotis made from the various millet varities such as ragi, saamal, cholam and kambu.

The Prem’s Graama Bhojanam Ambiance & Service

It’s a quaint little place with wooden bench style seating and table – the kind you would find at a South Indian village. It isn’t about just the different food, the service as well as the overall look and feel, takes you to a different state of mind altogether. A must visit if you like experimenting and see what it’s like to unwind with millet based dishes rather than the usual pizza/burger/fries combo.

The Final Word

What’s not to like: food – great, price – even better, calories – enough to get rid of any remote guilt (of eating too much). So, yes a visit to Prem’s Grama Bhojanam should be in the books if you haven’t already!
