The ‘IT Expressway’, commonly called ‘the OMR’ in Namma Chennai has been buzzing with activity, thanks to the IT boom and the latest pearl in the ocean is the massive 5-star hotel from the Taj Group – The Gateway Hotels & Resorts. The official launch meet took place on the 24th of August which had pulled in a lot of interest from the media and general public.

The Launch Story

The 4500 sq. feet banquet hall was almost full and the entire proceeding was hosted by the famous VJ of SS Music Fame – Paloma. The Gateway Group is one of the many brands which comes under the Taj family and they aim to ‘refresh’ your experience or stay at their massive hotel which has around 200 rooms in total and has been pumped in with an investment of around 150 crores.

The launch began on an enthusiastic note with a traditional dance cum music performance which was followed by the official launch. The COO – Prabhat Verma pressed the ‘F5′ button with the aim of officially ‘refreshing’ Chennai with his hotel’s world class amenities and decor. Following this, there was a brief speech by Prabhat Verma , which emphasized on how the Gateway Hotel Chennai was looking to make a mark in Chennai and also about their in house specialties. The press conference and the introduction of Chef Natrajan took place next and the COO had to face a lot of questions pertaining to the financial issues and the brand as a whole. It was pretty disappointing as the guys from the media never bothered to ask or know more about the food that was at stake there.

The press conference concluded for good, post which we were entitled to a guided tour of the entire property and this was probably the best part of the entire proceeding for the day ( second only when compared to the lunch that followed ;) ) .
